About Inge Verachtert

EXPRESSIVE CHARACTER

WARM AND QUIET WORK WITH A POWERFUL PLAY OF LINES, SOME TIGHT, SOME PLAYFUL.

Inge Verachtert (1969), living in Gierle, studied visual arts at the Heilig-Grafinstituut in Turnhout. She has given up her job as a kindergarten teacher since 2008 to focus fully on painting with acrylic paint.

“In my studio in Gierle I am driven to paint almost daily, in peace, with a view of the garden, away from the world.”

RECOGNIZED SIGNATURE

Inge draws on lines, shapes and colors from various interiors and landscapes. Her love for nature and its surroundings are often a source of inspiration. Lines of three-dimensional spaces end up on the two-dimensional plane to end abstractly. The perception of form, structure and color gives a specific rhythm thanks to the mutual influence.

The paintings may be decorative in nature, but because of their multi-layered expressive character they stand completely on their own.

The many colors in the underpainting, but also the scraping away of layers of paint, bring tension to the painting. She often also uses plaster in her paintings, so that her style remains recognizable. But also materials such as dust, sand, wood, etc. are used. And where she initially stuck to earth tones and white nuances, she now also opts for bright, colorful compositions, often tone on tone and hyper stylized. Ultimately, Inge wants to achieve a warm and calm work with a powerful interplay of lines, sometimes tight, sometimes playful. Occasionally Inge Verachtert also paints figuratively, thus illustrating her technical virtuosity.

Her well-known "ladder" in almost all her works is also a playful and recognizable signature!

ART AND INTERIOR

Inge has her own exhibition space at her studio in Gierle, where works are permanently exhibited.

"I am willing to come to a custom work in consultation with you that forms a beautiful whole with your interior."

"If you wish, I will come to your home with different sizes and colors of paintings. In this way we discuss together what will come into its own before you purchase a work!"

You are always welcome in my studio without obligation after a telephone appointment.
